3rd Pick on Vasilevskiy?

So this is my 1st time in a fantasy hockey league. It is a 12 team H2H league that has been going on for over 10 years now. The scoring in the league is as follows: +/- 1 point, A 2 points, G 3 points, PIM .25 points, PPG 1point, SHG 2 points. For the Goalies it is G are 5 points(which is never going to happen, A is 3 points, GA -1 point, PIM .25 points, SV .2 points, SO 3 points, W 5 points. So my question is should I grab Vasilevskiy with the 3rd pick or should I go with a position player with that selection?

Unless you start more than two goalies per day, I would grab MacKinnon, McDavid, or Kucherov (whoever is left).

IF you’re comfortable with (or allowed to??) trade the 3 rd pick for 6th/7th-ish AND you get something of value for the trade (like their third pick for your 4th?), THEN is when Vasilevskiy becomes more appropriate. But 1st three are as wise Eskimo says.

It is only 2 Goalies per day. I figure Kucherov and MacKinnon will go #1 and #2. I than should take McDavid.

I'm not one to take a G in the 1st round in almost any format. They're a crap shoot. forward production is much more predictable. I'd hold off on Vasil.

I agree with this completely.

McDavid is the #1 pick in any format. While it is true that the top goalie may outpoint the top point getter but you are more likely to correctly predict the top point getters than you are the top goalie.

Good to look into, but out of context of what other goalies and forwards get, it's less relevant. The gap between McDavid and other forwards available later should be bigger than between Vas and other goalies you can choose from later in the draft.

I'd be interested to know what Freddy Andersen's point totals were.. with Sv's being .2 - he's going to be a top 3 goalie. The Dmen Tor acquired are not known for their elite shot suppression abilities

This is my train of thought as well. Grab McDavid if hes there at 3. That or who ever is left from Kucherov or MacKinnon.

McDavid no question, Mackinnon is good but yet to hit the century mark in his career while Connor does it year in and year out. If a generational talent is there you take it.
