Seems like a good fair deal - probably going to look like a supreme value for Flyers very quickly. The kid is good.

Best thing about a heartbreaking 2018/19 for Flyers is getting discounts on Provorov and Konecny.
Those deals almost... almost... OK... who am I kidding... those contracts still don't offset the Kevin Hayes signing. Ugh.

How is a guy who has never put up 50 points in an NHL season worth $5.5M per year? He played 3/4 of his time with Giroux and Couturier/Van Riemsdyk and he still ended up with less than 50 points last season.

What's frustrating with Hayes contract is yes the AAV, but also that Flyers doesn't need a player like Hayes.
Nolan Patrick could be the next Kevin Hayes in a couple of years (if he stays healthy).

Another contract where the team hopes the player develops into more than what hes shown so far. If he can, then this will be a fair contract.

Sometimes I wonder if people on this board (this actual hockey board in particular) ever actually watch hockey. Or if they just look at hockey data base all day.

What makes your observations better than another person's?

A few days ago I was reading one of the Billions of Marner articles, this one on how his "playmaking" stats compared to other RFAs and the rest of the league. It had this graph attached and I was a bit surprised to see how Konecny matched up being just a touch behind Tkachuk and a decent bit ahead of Boeser, Conner, and Laine. (Not surprised by that last one)

Every one of those guys has a slightly to much better scoring record and proportionally are likely going to be valued much higher than this 5.5x6 contract for Konecny.

So far he has been more of a complimentary player, but even considering that he has been quite a good compliment and I can see him putting up @60 points this year to go along with his tenacious and agitating style of play. It might look a touch high at the moment but over the course of this contract I think he's going to prove to be worth it.

Well, at least Konecny's put up 47 & 49 points and is only 22.

The better question is how can a guy who has put up maximums of 49 & 55 points, and is now 27 worth $7.14M per year?
