Default How much of a target should Binnington be?

    Hello all,

We are getting ready for picking our keepers and draft. It's a 5-keeper league, head to head, categories league with goalies. Stat categories: goals, assists, +/- , penalty minutes, shots on goal, power play points, blocks, and hits. On the goalie categories we use wins, games started, shots against, goals against average, save percentage, and shutouts.

As a result goalies have tended to be quite valuable and last year most people were running 3 goalies as a minimum.

The guy who scooped Binnington has some interest in moving him, but it'd likely be expensive. My current keepers are: Kuch, Wheeler, Eichel, E. Lindholm and Tuch. I also have Lehner, but unfortunately unless I make a trade I wouldn't have the draft round pick necessary to keep him (and given the goalie share that's likely to occur in Chicago, his value may not be so great).

I was planning on picking a goalie in the first/second round given my keepers are all forwards (with a RW glut). In such a scenario, would a 1st or 2nd round pick for Binnington make sense (he would then likely become one of my keepers)?

    Cheers!

in the one ''keeper'' for $$ that I play in that only allows you to keep 1 pro goalie max he was traded for a high pick so I dont think your wrong if you took that leap of faith .

if he goes exposed by the other gm I'd suspect he gets snapped up early in the keeper draft.

24-5-1 and a Stanley Cup. I truly DON’T know why the overwhelming “expert” opinion is that Binnington is unproven. Make the trade and smile about it !!

12-team, H2H. Keep 12, but drop 2 of top four skaters, and also 2 of next six, then five more (from end-of-year rankings). One GK max.

Unproven in that before that stint he was 2 leagues away from the NHL..played 30 reg season games caught a heater with the rest if his team and ended up winning it all. To me if he can at least show some of that same play to start..then im in boars the Winnington train..untill that time im off..

those stats also mean that if he can keep repeating them he is by far best goalie in NHL....

for now, i would draft him as mid of the pack goalie.

And the problem with all of the doubters, is that it won’t be too late to drop him (for prospect, for Saros?), but those who wait will see Binnington on someone else’s team if he turns out to be a top-5 GK.
