I'll take Liljegren slightly at this point because his all-around game has come such a long way and his NHL certainty is very high. Merkley obviously has the ridiculous upside, but you are taking a massive risk that he is even going to make the NHL -- and in the next few years. He literally just turned 19, and should be in store for another junior season. Liljegren will be playing his second full season of top-pair minutes in all situations in the AHL.
Don't forget Liljegren is a RHD, and he is going to be in a coveted position on an ELC with the Leafs very soon. I would expect by the end of the 20-21 season he is locked into a top-4 role.
