NHL out clauses are forbidden in the KHL

Having received a Qualifying Offer from NJ prior to the June 25th deadline, if #Devils forward Pavel Zacha were to play in the KHL this coming season with Avangard, he would remain on NJ's reserve list and the club would continue to hold his rights.

It won't hurt the Devils much. Zacha has improved but he's also buried on the 4th line. Kevin Rooney can easily play that role this year. Zacha's rights can be used as trade bait if the Devils are having a good year.

I haven’t seen any reports about him this summer aside from he will sign and no big deal that is been so late. Now this bummer. We was coming along slowly but good all around player.

Don’t know the nhl rules all that great can someone help me understand why he didn’t go to arbitration? Maybe they avoided it or he wasn’t qualified?

Players coming off their ELC don't qualify for arbitration.

One more thing to note. Zacha has not yet signed a KHL contract. Eronko merely reported they've "agreed to terms" and that may even be premature.

Avangard Omsk haven't confirmed the report of Pavel Zacha having agreed to terms with their team. In a conversation the situation has been described as premature.

Zacha would only marginally help that situation.

I mentioned earlier that he was qualified. Clearly he declined the qualifying offer. None the less, the Devils retain his rights.

Well, technically, he could join the Devils after the KHL season ends I suppose, if he they can come to an agreement after that happens, but I am doubtful it will. I wouldn't say "0% chance", but I am not putting money on it.

He still hasn't signed a contract as far as we know but if he does it's damn close to 0% chance he returns this season.

I think he'd still be subject to the December cut-off date for RFAs.
