    Default Burns Regression?

Currently, based on dailyfaceoff, they have the followning PP lines:

    PP1
    Hertl Couture Meier
    Labanc Karlsson

    PP2
    Chekhovic Chmelevski Kane
    Vlasic Burns

I have a feeling Burns will be stuck on that 2nd line PP indefinitely:
    1) The offensive talent is weak on that 2nd line
    2) Moving Burns up to the 1st PP with Karlsson would need Dillon or Middleton on PP2, or Melker Karlsson as a FW
    3) Karlsson (until 2027) just signed a long term contract and is 5 years younger than Burns (signed until 2025 when he will be 40 years old)

Is Burns due for regression this season simply due to deployment (and aging)? If not, how many years does he have left as a top3 defenseman? He is 35 years old in March.

Considering dailyfaceoff is run by the Sharks coaching staff, I would be very worried.

What's that, it's not run by the Sharks coaching staff then I probably would not worry about it.

Burns has been the best offensive dman in the NHL over the past 4 seasons by a large margin. I don't expect the Sharks to not have him on on their #1 PP unit.

Also, it's doubtful that either Chekovic or Chmelevski make the opening night roster let alone both play on PP2.

If Burns does indeed regress, it will be to the 70s, which aint too shabby. I think he is still an elite fantasy option. Elite as in top 2.

I wouldnt bet against Burns. The great D can have extremely lengthy careers. I can see Burns still a relevant fantasy player when he is 40.

How to make big mistakes in fantasy:

    1. Look up stuff on dailyfacieoff before the season starts.
    2. Make decision based on that
3 Have "feelings' about players who have dominated in the last many years regressing just because.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Regression makes sense if you consider he's 34 and just had a career year. Daily Faceoff's opinion should have no weight in this assessment.

Even if Burns end up playing on the second PP unit I woudnt be worried for his overall production this upcoming season. The guy is still a b e a s t.
