    Default Cap floor

To the the guys with experience in cap leagues, do you use a cap floor? If yes, what %-age of a cap is a reasonable number would be? My new league is set at 95M cap using the real NHL salaries. 14 teams, 20 men rosters

    Thx

Why would someone not want to spend as much cap as possible? To tank for next year's draft?

We use a draft lottery and award the best odds to the teams who do the best in our consolation playoff bracket. As a result, we have never had an issue with tanking.

Its not to prevent tanking but prevent the teams loading up on ELCs (we don't have a separate prospect rosters)

Why is this even a consideration? Everyone has the same opportunity to load up on ELCs.

My league uses AAV and 10% nhl salary cap for max but for the floor we just use the actual nhl cap floor to keep it simple

Yes, but if a team decides to load up their entire roster (20) with ELSs most of which will outperform their contacts by miles, than that defeats the whole purpose of having the salaries. That's why the floor will be in place. If a league had a separate prospect roster, then it wouldn't be an issue

It doesn't defeat the purpose of having salaries, it just means that they are executing a different strategy, which honestly is not very likely to work if it's their entire roster. Fantasy leagues are NOT real leagues, you don't have fans paying money to watch players and be entertained, which necessitates a minimum quality of product on the ice for all teams.

We don't have a cap floor, but we have a minors roster which is NOT a prospect roster, as it can hold veterans and prospects. We do have an active roster cap.
