So what do we think happens from here? Plays the year in Karpat and returns to Edmonton next season? Plays the year in Karpat and is traded in the spring? Does he get traded before December 1 and returns to the NHL? Or have we seen the last of him?
I’m going to guess he either plays the year out in Finland and is traded in the spring. Also wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve already seen the last of him.

I don't think we've seen the last of him, but I do think he plays the year out in Finland before getting traded.

Traded before December 1st and returns to the NHL would be my guess.

Who knows.
At least at this point, we have a better understanding on what he is planning on doing.
For the Oilers, its comes down to this. He goes to Finland and plays well, increasing his trade value and they can find a partner that gives them what Holland considers fair market value. What that is is really anyones guess at this point. He goes to Finland, plays well and decides that he is willing to play with Edmonton. He goes to Finland, craps the bed and does himself no favors at all.
This really come down to how well he plays in Finland. Holland doesn't have to do anything but sit back and wait to see how this plays out. I've always said him going to Finland is the best thing for him right now. Hopefully he can regain his confidence and play to the level most expected to see when he got drafted. If that happens, this will either increase the return for Holland and the Oilers, or he will come back and play with a renewed confidence for them.
I figured at this point, since he hadn't signed overseas yet, he'd end up back in Edmonton but I wasn't sold that that was what was best for him.

Ryan Rishaug said on TSN that 2 or 3 teams have expressed serious interest - asking price is a prospect and a 1st or a NHL regular with some upside.

Sounds like there is interest out there for J.P. Discussions with several teams have happened in recent weeks, but unless the price is met, my guess is Holland won't pull the trigger. Sense on price is a prospect with top 9 F potential and a draft pick gets it done.. cont

...Perhaps a player straight across, but would need to be someone who plays right away and has contract left. I don't believe a 2nd round pick straight up gets a deal done at this time. Oilers made several attempts to bring Jesse back into the fold, but player insists on change

This remind me when Hudler decided to go the KHL because he couldn’t get a deal done with... Holland and the Red Wings! Funny coincidence.He played all year with Moscow then return to the Wings the next year. I expect the same kind of scenario for Puljujarvi.
