My thoughts as well. I'm just glad they were able to lock up one of their young kids long-term with everything that's been going on.

I'm actually on board with all of these kids getting the "we have faith in their output" money.
NHL GMs too often got burned by Beleskeys and Clarksons.
It's simply way safer to overpay the youngsters, whose bodies are more likely to hold up, who are more likely to train, and to improve.

I do wonder if Colin White's draft spot alone got him an extra $1m/year.

Not surprised considering all of their other players that don't suck ended up signing elsewhere

Part of the deal I missed and not surprising at all considering their owner is that there are no signing bonuses included.

Given the market for RFA I don't understand why White wouldn't opt for a short term deal and cash in after a couple of years. Good deal for Ottawa long term, I think.
