Seems a bit high but the term could make this a bargain eventually. I like it for the Sens.

My thoughts as well. I'm just glad they were able to lock up one of their young kids long-term with everything that's been going on.

I'm actually on board with all of these kids getting the "we have faith in their output" money.
NHL GMs too often got burned by Beleskeys and Clarksons.
It's simply way safer to overpay the youngsters, whose bodies are more likely to hold up, who are more likely to train, and to improve.

I do wonder if Colin White's draft spot alone got him an extra $1m/year.

That 2015 Entry Draft!!!! (the one with McDavid, Eichel, and Marner):
    16 Matthew Barzal... (stud)
    17 Kyle Connor... (stud)
    18 Thomas Chabot... (stud)
19 Evgeny Svechnikov... (TBD - but bust so far)
20 Joel Eriksson Ek... (still slow potential, me thinks)
    21 Colin White
    22 Ilya Samsonov (on pace)
    23 Brock Boeser (stud)
    24 Travis Konecny (solid/stud)

Man... one knows that the Devils (Zacha-6), Panthers (Crouse-11), Bruins (Zboril-13, Senyshyn-15) and Wings (Svech-19) look back at this draft and go... D'oh!!

btw. Remember last summer when so many people were giving #3 overall pick, Dylan Strome, the "bust" status.

Not crazy about the deal but definitely more legit than stockpiling LTIR to build up the team's "payroll"

A good contract for the future second center of the team.
Ottawa Senators is now waiting to see if they will have the chance to draft Quinton Byfield as the future #1 centre of maybe Lafreniere as a top winger

He'll be in a Nordiques jersey and Melnyk won't be signing cheques... beyond that.. who knows?

I like the deal. In pts only cap leagues he'll be worth the salary this year. Legit chance to lead the team in scoring (55pts)

in a salary cap league, having the line Tkachuk-White-Batherson could be a great ratio pts/$

I think I read that this is the richest contract signed by Ottawa since Bobby Ryan (I believe in total $ committed)

I can't list my 2nd main keeper as there are too many players, but it is a keep all H2H points-only league

Not surprised considering all of their other players that don't suck ended up signing elsewhere

Might be a tad high for now, but I think it will end up being a bargain for the Sens before long. Good signing in my books.

Part of the deal I missed and not surprising at all considering their owner is that there are no signing bonuses included.

Given the market for RFA I don't understand why White wouldn't opt for a short term deal and cash in after a couple of years. Good deal for Ottawa long term, I think.
