You think it’s unlikely he’d clear? So you’re saying he’ll start in the AHL regardless of what sort of camp he has?

If the Islanders put him on waivers, I see no way he gets past a team like Edmonton at the very least. Ho-Sang has some pretty good results so far in the NHL, and he's proven to be an effective checking-line player who can contribute secondary scoring. Imagine if he had linemates and PP time.

Honestly no idea what’s going to happen if Trotz has no use for him . Would they bother sitting him in press box to avoid waivers or just let nature take its course

If they don’t have a use for him maybe a trade? I guess it’s up to him to make it no brainer to keep him on the big club.

Make it or bust contracts for both. Dal Colle looks like an AHLer at this point, even if it's early. Ho-Sang has NHL talent but it will start to wither if he doesn't find a way to do what coaches want to see at the NHL level. Takes more than flashy plays, unless your flashy plays are top level. His aren't.

I think he deserves a spot in the bottom 6 at least. He's made strides in the A and to me, Trotz looks like the type of guy that can set you straight by just looking at you angrily for 5 seconds. Ho Sang may stink of confidence but Trotz can keep him in check. I firmly believe he's a legit top 6 guy.

I think it's a little bit unfair for people to characterize him as a "flashy" one-dimensional type of player, as his individual defensive impacts were very good last season. Granted, we are talking about a very small sample size of even-strength minutes, but his defensive xG and shot suppression were great, and the possession metrics looked good to boot.

I'm in agreement with Mike that he's a legit top 6 talent. He has the offensive skills, he has the confidence, and his defensive game has improved significantly. He still needs to get an opportunity, though. Nothing is guaranteed.

fwiw , every time ho-sangs been sent down after looking decent enough to spice up the attack I have no idea what he's done wrong .nothing gets leaked out other than the standard ''needs to work on some things'' etc.

during the lead up to the 2017/18 season he looked better than Barzal in preseason and thats the year he won the Calder.

I can’t think of too many players that have thrived in the NHL after publicly calling out their organizations. Ho-sang is the person holding Ho-sang back.
