I'm jumping on this in a deep cap league. Why not? See how training camp shakes out. Call it a PTO by WW claim. By the looks of the AVS they plan on being much deeper up front than they were last year. They have enough players for four legitimate NHL lines.

COL was last stop for Yakupov, Grigorenko and now probably Nichushkin before departure to the K. Sakic must have some sort of bent here.

No anger here - it’s just that people with talent and poor work ethic do not do well in anything - and certainly not the NHL. There’s players who want the puck more, want the roster spot more, want that position in front of the net more... Asking ANY player to “prove it” is appropriate, and ESPECIALLY someone who’s only proven the opposite of “I belong in this league” so far.

Also, hundreds of players go on waivers and get demoted each year. Nothing is being given to him.
