Gardiner Vs Ekholm

For the next years only, points only with the salary cap.

Gardiner is not sign yet so its hard to know where is gone sign and with the delays its sound like i will try to sign at To at low cost or a simalary teams but if that happen he will play less and ekholm maybe gone a have more icetime since subban trade

Considering the unknown of Gardiners salary, and to be honest the biggest concern being his health (back), Id go with Ekholm.

in points only , if he is healthy i would want Gardiner. But i do agree with Axe that there is many question marks around him. Safer bet is Ekholm but Gardiner could out point him by 10 or so if he plays whole season.

Is it possible that the next destination of Gardiner is going to be Boston?

We heard rumors that he is waiting that a particular team sign all his players (McAvoy) to officializing the agreement.
There is also a rumor that Krug could be dealt before deadline and don't lost him for nothing next summer.

Gardiner could be a good fit as a replacement of Krug on PP1

I can't think of good argument against this, so I'm going with this. I think Ekholm is the obvious choice unless you want to wait and see on Gardiner.

They may as well keep the money they'd have to pay Gardiner and use it to keep Krug instead.

Wouldn't shock me if Gardiner signs a cheap 1yr contract to prove his back is healthy and go into UFA again next year. Jets/Ducks are screaming for D right now. Mtl would be a good landing spot as well.

That all said, rumours earlier this summer were that Gardiner was willing ot re-sign in Tor on the cheap but was waiting on Marner. I'd say Tor qualifies as a popular team as well.
