Default Keep 7, cap keepers league with last year's cap hits

    Hi guys,

My league is a little funky with the defensemen: Both points and +/- count for 1 point (+/- can there substract 1 pt as well). Forwards are point only.
It is an 18 team cap league where we keep 18 players (9 FW/5 D/2G/2 bench) and we use last year's cap hits for players and team cap ceiling (79.5M$)

I need to keep 7 out of those players:
    5.750 Tyler Seguin
    0.718 Kevin Labanc
    6.700 Nicklas Backstrom
    5.800 Cam Atkinson
    6.125 Mark Scheifele
    8.700 Sidney Crosby
    3.789 Rickard Rakell
    3.750 Brendan Gallagher
    8.250 Ryan Getzlaf
0.886 Clayton Keller ? (feels like a great value to let go)
    6.500 Erik Karlsson
    5.200 Shea Theodore
2.000 Ryan Pulock ? (3Ds? Cheap and good point producing Ds that arent perennial -30s (OEL) are usually very hard to come by in the draft)
    0.925 Noah Hanifin
    0.863 Thomas Chabot
    4.900 Alex Galchenyuk

My current top 7 would cost 36.6M$ which is somewhat acceptable for 7 out of 18 players. But letting go of keller feels like a dumb move even if Backstrom will almost certainly make more points.

    Who would you keep?

P.S. Ignore the roster in my signature. But the league stats are correct.
7 Keepers Salary Cap League (81.5M Cap)/ 18 Teams / 10 FW, 5 D, 2G, 1 Bench). Every 10 games, we compute Top 8 forwards, top 4 Ds and top goalie for those 10 games, then we store the points and computer for the next 10 games, so on and so forth.
    FW: 1pt = 1 FPt
    D: 1pt = 1 FPt & +/- = +or- 1 FPt
    G: (TOI*0.05/GAA)

That is such a tough call. I think lots of people would draft Keller at that cap over Backstrom at his cap.

Backstrom is never a 'sexy' pick especially in a cap league. So I think Backstrom is the easier player to re-draft.

So you'd keep keller even with his 47 points sophomore year and let go of steady eddy 75-80pts Backstrom because of the salary?

Well 47 points at under a million is phenomenal production. Also, I see him rebounding to closer to 70 this season after his sophomore slump.

So yes I would keep Keller over backstrom

Definitely keep Keller over Backstrom. One could also argue picking labanc over a guy like Seguin.
Try shopping backstrom, seguin and scheifele around for some picks.

I'd keep Keller and Labanc over Backstrom. Both should score half or more of what Backstrom scores in an eighth of the price.

I'm trying to figure out whom I might cut to also keep both of them.
