Keeper league.. Who would you keep ?

Im in a keeper league, which i have won already, consistently in playoffs, until last year i finished dead last. The previous 2 years i went to the finals.

Its a 14 Managed Teams with 15 players on the rosters. We keep 7.


Because of my brutal season, i managed to trade away players and currently hold 5 1st Round draft picks, 2 2nd Round draft picks and 1 3rd.


We play H2H on a weekly basis.


PLAYER CATEGORIES: G, A, PTS, +/-, PP, SHP, GWG


GOALIE CATEGORIES: W, S/O, GAA, SV%
( 2 goalies have to play per week / must reach 3 gm minimum )

Give us an idea of what the picks are worth. Who was taken at #7 last year's draft? Who was taken Rd2 #1 in last year's draft? Or what kind of player would be available/targeted at your picks?

I think I would take Raantanen here. Your roster doesn't seem to me like it's going to be a contender at this point. I'm in a similar league, and if you had a chance to win, I'd say keep the picks and rate the depth you need to put you over the top. However, for you I think you need to improve your keepers first and Raantanen is young and going to be a keeper for you for years. None of those guys you listed are keepers and will most likely be back in the draft next year (again my league is very similar including the draft). Just my 2 cents.

The Huberedeau trade, I'm not as high on. I think you have to shoot for the Stars here with the rebuild while you have a these picks and aim for a stud.

would it be possible to trade Ehlers & 2 1sts fro Rantanen or Ehlers & 1st for Hubs?
Then you could keep Reinhart or Hart (I'd consider Reinhart over Ehlers in general with this format)

For me this is tough without knowing which 1sts... those first three 1sts are much more valuable than the last two which are closer in value to the two early 2nds

Last year, Couture was available and taken at #2.

The way i see it, if i trade for Rantanen for 3 1st RD picks, he will give me his 6th,7th & 8th RD.. not much players on that end. To get 1 player at 90 + points, theres going to be a few good young players left.. especially on D which i desperately need

In a limited keeper, quality Trump's quantity nearly every time (again, that simply my opinion). Good luck which ever way you end up going!

you need to do some deep dives into the later rounds.
someone like Hinostroza could be good for 55-65pts and be there in the 8th round
The more I look at him, the more I believe Tom Wilson is going to be closer to a 60pt player this year.
Value will be there. You just have to un-earth it.

That's why i suggested swapping Ehlers for one of the 1sts. You can sub in Reinhart - offsetting any Ehlers value, while improving your set of keepers. That all depends on who the OGM's sub keeper would be based on 3-1sts deal.
