Question Looking for a shiny new toy

I am trying to put together a trade to get A Svechnikov (Car) and was wondering if i could get some help.

This is for the league in my signature, we are yet to decide keepers but we are getting close. Youngsters are pretty cherished in our league, so you really have to give to receive. Svechnikov has also played over our farm limit of 81 NHL games, so he would have to go onto my main roster, as would Keller (of course) when I choose my keepers (20 main and 7 farm)

I was thinking N backstrom + J Schwartz for Svechnikov + Keller (poor choice for our multi cat set up??) or should I start at a straight 1 for 1?? (I'm not very good at this )

Not enough, too much, good starting point??

    Any suggestions greatfully received.

    His team is:
    C - A Barkov, M Backlund, Bo Horvat, R O'Reilly, Seguin, Draisaitl, Keller
W - Athanasiou, B Nelson, E Lindholm, Lee, Mantha, Meier, Conor Sheary, C Fischer, Ondrej Kase
D - Goligoski, Hronek, OEL, H Lindholm, Fowler, Schmidt, Erik Karlsson, Victor Hedman
G - Bobrovsky, Price, Domingue, Anders Nilsson, Reimer, Kinkaid

    Thanks everyone.

I agree with this. Also, alot of ppl get caught up in the shiny new toy and offer way too much. This is definitely not the case here, just a warning not to fall in love with "what could be" as far as youngsters with potential.

I can't really see a fit between your team and his; your top guys are too valuable for Keller and/or Svech and your secondary guys aren't valuable enough (in my opinion). This could lead to an overpay if you become determined to acquire a Svech or Keller.

You basically wrote the reasons why the other GM won't accept this offer.

If you really want to go after one of them, I would focus solely on that player. Offer up multiple assets for Svechnikov alone. It's always a tough sell in a limited keeper but IMO you'll get better results going at it that way.

you look less like a dirty thief this way too

To be honest it is Svechnikov that i really want, as he appears to be multi cat gold in the future, just need to decide on the assets if I want to down that road. Any thoughts on what might be a good starting point then??

You need to fill a glaring hole for the Svech owner - C, LW, D, G... it has to be an attractive offer. Check out OGM's trade block. That should help you focus your offer.

wouldn't surprise me if he came after PLD/Tkachuk

If you want MY Svechnikov and Keller you need to have the stones to put one of the bolded players on the table and build something around that. Get that weaksauce you offered off of the table. 27-year-old, 36 point Jaden Schwartz. GTFOH

C - Stamkos, N Backstrom, Bergeron, Scheifele, Eichel
LW - JVR, Tkachuk, PLD, Schwartz, Skinner, S Bennett, N Ritchie
RW - Voracek, Kucherov, Pastrnak, C Atkinson, T Wilson
D - D Hamilton, Parakyo, Gohst, Zadorov, R Andersson, Chychrun
G - Holtby, Rittich, Allen, Smith, Copley
Farm - T Parsons, H Borgstrom, Chytil, Farabee, A Nedeljkovic

You are ultra-strong at wing and center and muffin soft on D. I think that the move you should be looking to make is upgrade on Parakyo, Zadorov, Chychrun, Anderson.

The other GMs team is soft on the W and strong in net and on D. They actually look like a good trade partner for you.

    His team is:
    C - A Barkov, M Backlund, Bo Horvat, R O'Reilly, Seguin, Draisaitl, Keller
W - Athanasiou, B Nelson, E Lindholm, Lee, Mantha, Meier, Conor Sheary, C Fischer, Ondrej Kase
D - Goligoski, Hronek, OEL, H Lindholm, Fowler, Schmidt, Erik Karlsson, Victor Hedman
G - Bobrovsky, Price, Domingue, Anders Nilsson, Reimer, Kinkaid

I'd be looking at Karlsson or Hedman. Both of these guys had hiccups in production last season and seem to be available in more leagues than they have in the past. That said, It is going to cost you. If you really want Svechnikov (ya know - the 'shiny things' that satrted this thread) then I would try to have Svech be the "piece" in a blockbuster. Think Scheifele/Pastrnak/Atkinson for Karlsson/Svechnikov/Keller or something along the same structure. I'd want to look harder at your league and the numbers before putting pen to paper but I hope you get the gist of the idea.

Thanks Moses. Like you say I need to run the numbers to get the best balance for both side but i hadn't that about his D. I will run some scenarios through FHG and see what comes out. Cheers

So I ran the numbers on FHG and came up with the following, which I lose out on a number stats (G, A, PPP) but gain on a couple (mostly hits) and from a FHG value it is pretty close (-12.2 FHG value against me)

Stamkos + Voracek + Schwartz for his Hedman + Svechnikov + Keller

    Would that be of interest??

I'll reiterate this advice vs. making a bigger deal where you give up significantly more value over the next 2 or more years.
If your intention is to get into a rebuild - then sell those pieces off individually. You're taking a big loss by packaging them together

If you don't have plans to compete this year - then it's worth a go.
Looking at OGM's roster. He's got Hedman and EK and then there's a cliff in the quality of his Dmen.
He may not be willing to move Hedman for that reason.
Schwartz has no trade value. Just seeing him in there can sour deals, regardless of whether it's a good deal or not.

Only one way to find out... if he rejects I'd open a dialogue on Svech to see if there's any reason to send more offers.
