Gusev VS the rest: FA Re-Draft [REP]

I have the 5th pick in a 10 team snake draft for the FA Re-draft.

I'm thinking of grabbing Gusev at that point, but wanted some unbiased opinions.

Are there any other players you see that are the better option? (Rep when possible)

I think I would prefer Hedman, Marchessault, Gustafsson, Klingberg, Trouba, Hoffman, and maybe even Schenn (if he's LW-eligible) ahead of Gusev. Roughly in that order.

Gusev won't give you any truculence - that's for sure.

I'd add Gallagher & J. Anderson, Palmeiri to guys I'd consider over Gusev too.

He's going to give you mainly assists and PPP. I don't expect more than 200 sog and if he has 15 hits this season or 20 PIM.. I'll be surprised. In your set up.. he's really only going to provide 2-3 category coverage.

Think Josh Bailey type from 17/18 - with a few more SOG scattered in.

I must agree with the others...interesting that there are so many high-quality dmen available still...Hedman, Klingberg, Trouba, Gustafsson...I generally think of Hedman and Klingberg as top 10 at their position. The only forward arguably in that category imo is Marchessault...he is arguably a top 10 LW. So, I think I'd probably grab Marchessault this time and then hope to land Hedman or Klingberg (maybe Trouba or Gustafsson if the former are both gone) with my next pick.

Then again, Hedman is really hard to pass on and having Karlsson and Hedman as your top 2 dmen sets you up wonderfully at that position...hmmm

Thought I was over valuing Gusev and this help me realize that.
In all likely hood I can probably scoop him up on the turn in the second round, but there's just something about his offensive potential that keeps drawing me to him.

Hedman, March or Schenn are probably the more sure fire choices.
Gives me something to think about!

don't be gun-shy on Gus if he's there and the others are gone. An argument could be made he should go before Hedman.
The only thing he did last year was improve quarter over quarter over quarter over quarter.
Not just points, but in all periphs as well. 54 in 57 and ended on a 130 hit/block 200+sog pace... Sign me up...

hmmm am I missing something or what? I prefer every player you noted. Also I prefer pretty much every single player of the first 2 pages in the link and some of the 3th page over Gusev... I guess Im too low on that guy and Im a Devils fan

Gusev should be good but not sure I take him over anyone on that list

Among this group, I would think Gusev should still be available into the 2nd round, maybe even the 3rd. 5th overall, I wouldn't go there if I were you (:
