    Default Marchessault or E. Lindholm

    H2H, dynasty, cap league (81.5).
G, A, PTS, PPP, SOG, BLK, PIM

Their cap hits are essentially a wash. Which one of these two do you prefer?

    - PIM are negative (the fewer, the better)
    - I own Lindholm and Gaudreau
    - He owns Marchessault and Stone

Lindholm. He is going to regress a bit this year but should still fall around 70pts, whereas Marchessault needs to bounce back pretty hard to get back up over 70. More likely he falls a little short of that in the 65pt range.

I'll take Marchessault here, even without Hits. He should be the superior goal scorer, and their points upside is pretty similar. Additionally, Marchessault is an elite contributor in SOG and he's better than Lindholm for PIM.

It's a tough call but this makes lots of sense.

BTW for those in CBS league, Marchessault has been changed from C to W. Big boost to his value.

The graph in the guide was interesting for Marchassaults line. They were used as a shutdown unit with heavy D zone starts relative to the rest of the team. With Stone there full time and hopefully a healthy Stasny some of that load should be lessened allowing that unit to produce better numbers again.

Lindholms line on the other hand has a huge amount of O zone starts leaving little room for improved opportunities.

Marchassault could very well be the better player next year in all regards but I wouldn’t fault you if you gambler on the younger guy with cushier deployment either.

Lindholm will get you a bit more points but not enough to cover the SOG and PIM difference.

    Thanks for the feedback.

A couple of things that I forgot to mention in my original post:

    - PIM are negative (the fewer, the better)
    - I own Lindholm and Gaudreau
    - He owns Marchessault and Stone

    Does this change anything?

i originally preferred Lindholm due to age, and with PIMs at negative that makes him even more atractive

I guess it depends how negative the PIM value is ... as Lindholm is probably around 20-25 PIM and Marchessault around 40-50 PIM. That said, Marchessault averages 3.5 SOG per game, whereas Lindholm is only around 2 and change. The ~ 100 total shot difference is rather large, and if that outweighs the difference in PIM, I would still be inclined to choose Marchessault.

I think, as the Lindholm owner, you could try to ship him for Marchessault and a sweetener coming back. You should be able to get a little something extra, and still get the better player.

I currently own lindholm and given the chance I'd probably swap him for marchessault. it's conceiveable lindholm has as good or better a year than marchessault, but marchy just feels bit more sure and the certainty floor feels higher.
