Default What a performance by Askarov!

After beating the stacked US team at the U-18, he now beat a strong Canada team at the Hlinka/Gretzky. 35 saves on 37 shots... this kid is impressive. He seems like the real deal. If Spencer Knight went 13th overall, where will Askarov go next year? For me, he’s in the top 10 even if it’s a pretty solid draft.

For me there is no doubt. Some say he’s a generational talent...He’s barely 17 and look at his pedigree, just WOW

Not taking a whole lot of stock in what Button says, but he's calling him "generational." I'm keeping my eye on him for next year for sure.

People I trust are saying he's the best prospect since Vasilevskiy, even better than Knight or Wallstedt.

Askarov is making his KHL debut as I type at age 17. His SKA St. Petersburg is up 3-2 against Sochi and he has saved 14 out of 16 shotrs after 2 periods. I'm tempted to try to watch a bit as I work.

edit: One of the goals was a 5-on-3 which he so nearly had saved
