I think Eric would be the main one to be reorganizing these, am I correct in that?
I am in the same boat as EB but since I do still post for myself sometimes, I do like the reorg.

As for cap leagues, I don't play in them so I generally just stay away and let others respond.

Possibly, but figured since I posted in this section then admins would see it. I'm away for the next couple days but will send him a PM if I get a chance this weekend.

Since I just joined recently I have been using the latest post option, but if I have to post my own thread I sometimes find myself confused to what section to post in. This I feel would significantly clear a lot of that up. I think this proposal is a good one.

Being quieter maybe this will be more noticed by the admins?

*edit Aug 23: noticing several salary cap threads still appearing in other sections. Maybe we don't need this one? Or people should be encouraged/guided to use it?
    • Goalies (same as now, seems to work well)
    • (and the rest the same)

    Thoughts?
Don't have any suggestions for improvement, but a couple of thoughts for what they are worth:

    1. Why a separate category for goalies? I can't tell you how many times I've seen a question related to go trades, listed under the goalie section, without any reference to one-year league versus keeper league. While you could argue it's up to the poster to include this information, my experience says newbies do not.

    2. If also not sure why you'd salary cap leagues would get it's own section, but not H2H versus Roto, for example.

Lastly, while I haven't created a new topic in eons, part of my wonders whether all forms need a sticky about tips for posting to get good answers, or perhaps tips embedded right in there where people are creating new threads?

im same and this is why i think those ideas maybe confusing, if someone posts in one year league they may not necessarily clerical that question is for one year league..if you use "last post" option it may get confusing for the reader to know how to respond.

I'm a latest post guy too. I wouldn't mind seeing broken down to keeper, auction, roto, pts, one year leagues and have a subsection for salary caps. Biggest issue I have is deciding where to put a new thread sometimes, so just put under general hockey talk. Also a lot depends on the info people put into their threads. Like the idea of post info.

    Good feedback, thanks.

Yeah my suggestions are definitely not set in stone, but do feel there needs some changes to simplify to hopefully make it easier for users. I know our habits aren't all the same, but feel there is some confusion/inconsistency in the current structure.

I know this is probably not the highest priority for the admin staff, but thought I would revisit it as things are quieter now.

Any thoughts on the above suggestions? Being off-season might be a good time to look at it?

Not sure how I missed this thread myself.

Eric has recused himself as the forums admin so the best thing to do is to bring this to Dobbers attention himself. I'll link the thread and send it to him in a PM here and on Twitter for his input.

Okay HF, I will take a look man - thanks for the persistence! I actually did miss this all along

Salary cap needs its own thread

What is the difference between discussion on a fantasy trade and discussion about a player? Is there a point to splitting that?

Thanks! And thanks Axe for bringing it to Dobber's attention!

Well, in the Keeper section they are already split with forwards, defensemen and trades. So really I'm condensing it by removing the 'forwards/defense' sub forums (as often there is overlap when people asking for general team advice) and lumping those into a general player/team thread, while keeping the trade one. And for balance, you'd do the same for One Year leagues.

Yeah figure Salary Cap should have its own one so the Auction suggestion was just to see if that needed something specific for it. But no big deal if left to be incorporated in other sub-forums.

EDIT: I figure there can be one year salary cap leagues(?) (as specified in my original message) as it's currently identified as keeper only so maybe just need to edit the section title?

Generally, I was just thinking it needed a rethink as it's unbalanced and I've seen plenty of threads either posted in the wrong forum or there wasn't an ideal place for it e.g. general keeper team advice.

Whatever you do is all good - I just appreciate you looking into it. Thanks again.

    Okay, we're all set
Please note in salary league section I have added a prefix option, with three league type settings

One thing I'd say is that auction leagues are VERY different than cap leagues, and I've run into issues where the two get conflated. I'd suggest splitting them, honestly.
