A few years ago for a playoff run I gave Skinner and Werenski for Nyquist and Seabrook (Seabs last decent season, he went on a hot streak and Skinner was ice cold.). I was eliminated in the first round.
There's more but that one sticks out in recent memory.

I've made quite a few bad ones in my day. One of the first trades I made in Comish's dynasty league was my William Karlsson for Marek Zidlicky. This was in 2015 I believe. I needed a d-man who was in the NHL and figured that was a good idea. I remember Comish said "yes that seems fair" .... lol. At the time who would have thought Karlsson would have became such a good player.

A few years ago in one of my keepers, I needed a LW so I dealt away one of my minors goalies, Matt Murray, for Kyle Clifford. Now for what its worth, at the time of the trade, Clifford had just signed a new long term contract for only $1.6M, which is good for a multicat guy in a cap league. Murray, who I had originally drafted, was in his first year in the AHL. I didnt see Pittsburgh moving on from MAF any time soon so I figured Murray would be a few years away at best.
In the end, I still regret the trade simply because Murray actually turned out to fantasy relevant a lot faster than I expected. Not to say Clifford was useless, but he certainly wasnt worth a Matt Murray. If we only had a crystal ball LOL!

2 trades come to mind on this one.
I traded Kessel, Atkinson, Lehtonen, and Reto Berra for Schneider and Abdelkader. This trade was at the beginning of of Kessel’s tenure in Pittsburgh when he got off to such a slow start. Schneider was still considered a top-10 goalie and goalies have crazy value in this league. Abdelkader just came off a great, multi-cat season, and Atkinson had not broken out yet. I really felt good about this trade but in reality Kessel and Atkinson would have made me a contender the next 2 seasons if I received their 130 pts or so.
Last season I picked up Erik Gustafsson off waivers in January after a small hot streak but before he really broke out. He had a couple pointless games and I had guys coming off IR so I traded him for a future 3rd round draft pick. Then he proceeded to explode after I traded him. Obviously, it turned out to be a bad trade but I view it as being the only owner in the league to at least get a 3rd round pick for a short term waiver pickup.

In a vacuum, and in retrospect, this is probably the worst trade I've made. I knew I was overpaying at the time but the deal improved my team and I was being competitive so I made it.
4 years ago, keep that in mind, with cap crunch a factor and my going for it, I traded
Rask, Marner and Rantanen
for
Holtby
Mind you, I have won my league 5 years in a row so I'm not rueful about this deal, plus with our league being a cap league, there is no way I would be able to keep Marner and Rantanen, given what their new contracts will be.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Beat this guys...
Needed a push to finish in the money. Went out and acquired Lee Stempniak for a prospect I had given up because he had been injured for some time in the QHJML : Nikita Kucherov.
Kucherov then came back from injury, scored 50 points in 20 games with Rouyn, and proceeded within two seasons to become a star.
Stempniak for Kucherov.
Phew...

Last summer I traded Dahlin, RNH, and my 1st round pick for ''dependable 70-80pt plug and play stud'' Jamie Benn and a 2nd rounder. Wish I had that one back.
By far the worst trade I have seen happen so far was a guy in my league trading Brayden Point for Ilya Kovalchuk straight up early into last season. Pretty much the day after the trade Point exploded and never looked back and we all know how useless Kovalchuk was. I doubt I'll ever see a trade turn out that bad again.

Most recent..... 2 years ago, I traded Brock Boser straight up for Yamamoto. As an Oiler fan I had my glasses on for sure. Also that same year I remember trading Rakell when he was just coming up for a 4th rounder and kept wennberg instead. Wennberg was enjoying his best season and did help me win the ship that season but both these trades still hurt.
