    Default 5th Overall, what's my play ?

I now have the 5th overall and debating who I should pick. Pts only cap dynasty.

    1-Hughes
    2-Kakko
    3- ?
    4- ?
    5- ?

Who would be your 3-4-5 Choice ?

Right now I'm leaning towards Byram, Turcotte, Caufield.

    Any advice ?

Uneducated guess, but your forward depth looks better than your depth on D, so I may be inclined to select Byram. I'd have it as this:

    Byram
    Turcotte
    Caulfield

So basically exactly how you had it.
Points only keeper. 12 Teams. No pos requirements. 18 skaters / 3 goalies (2 count for points.) G/A = 1 point each (includes goalies) Goalies = 1.5 for W / 4.5 for SO. Minors - 4 year protection. Prospects added during their draft year only. Undrafted = waivers.
    Skaters: Tolvanen,Jeannot,Drysdale,Benson,Sprong,Fantilli,H .Lindholm,T. Raddysh,K. Miller,Edvinsson,Roslovic,Sharangovich,McBain,Benn ett,Crouse, Luostarinen,Dube,Phillips
    Goalies: Gustavsson,Schmid,Vejmekla
    Minors: F.Pinelli,Beckman,Cossa,Nikkanen,Tieksola,Pashin,M cMichael,Konovalov,Svechkov,K.Johnson,Moore,Crista ll,Heidt,Ziemmer,Perron,Nadeau,Gulyayev,Wahlberg, Suniev,Tomasino,Khusnutdinov

    I have Turcotte as a clear #3.

Then I would have Byram and Caufield in that order.

If you go to the "Draft Eligible Players" section of the forums, you'll find lots of threads on prospect draft and rankings. In fact, someone else asked who to draft 5th overall as well. You can read that thread here

    https://forums.dobbersports.com/show...Turcotte-Byram

I'd also recommend reading the thread that allowed folks to post their own completed draft.

At this point, without knowing whose there at 5, it's hard. Turcotte is my easy choice for #3.
10 Team, Points Only, Cash League

25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month
Keep 20/25 at seasons end, Cut 5 to FA for redrafting
    Goalie points W=2pt L=-1pt SHO=2pt

Stamkos, Tavares, Eichel, Mercer, JRobertson, RThomas, Kucherov, Nugent-Hopkins, Tuch, KConnor, Necas, Point, Konecny, SJarvis, Cozenz, Morrissey, Bouchard, Josi, Novak, Tolvanen, Peterka, Brink

    G- Vasilevskiy, Sorokin, Oettinger

Thanks, I always struggle with the search function of this forum. I will definitely look it up.

Points only, no positional differences just F / D I would have them:

    Turcotte > Byram > Zegras > Caufield

Caufield will be a much better option in leagues with Goals and Shots, but Zegras definitely has a higher raw offensive upside. He could be a regular point-per-game guy who runs a PP1 and piles up 50 assists.

Turcotte seems consensus 3rd everywhere, and Byram 4th. I'd trade up 1 or 2 spots if you could. 5 is a crapshoot, I'd probably go Dach then Zegras. I'd like somebody else gamble on Caufield.

If Turcotte/Byram aren't there, I'd prefer to trade down. I might try and trade down in advance of the draft, actually.

    I rank them...

    1. Hughes
    2. Kakko
    3. Caufield
    4. Byram
    5. Turcotte

Caufield is going to be a monster.

Not much love for Dach here... I understand Turcotte and Byram at 3-4 but I think that Dach, Caufield and Zegras are pretty close.

My two cents: In a 20 team league, you are always going to have "draft junkie" managers. I would be looking at trading the pick for an upcoming D man. Your league is not that deep so 'picks' aren't going to factor into your roster right away. While having ELCs are great for the cap, waiting for a Turcotte / Byram/ Dach / Caufield / Zegras doesn't fit with your older team.

He had fewer goals than Bowen Byram in the WHL, and went long stretches where he completely disappeared. There is a lot of upside with Dach, but I think guys like Caufield, Zegras, Cozens, and Krebs are arguably all more reliable options for points-only. Dach could really pan out, but there is risk.
