    Default 4TH keeper?????

Morning gents. I traded Crosby at the deadline for E. Kane/Wheeler as an all in, going for the 3peat, move. Well that failed miserably and I finished 6th, which means I draft 5th in next years straight draft. Being we're a keep 4 there should be plenty of high end talent at that spot each round. So my issue today is, Wheeler was going to be my replacement for Crosby, but another GM has put F. Andersen up for trade. I don't like keeping a goalie AND a D-man over a forward (we need at least 1 G or D), but would I be in a better position with Andersen as my 4th and hoping to grab as much high end forwards in the redraft as possible? I completely missed the goalie run last season drafting 10th. Keepers would be, McDavid, Kuch, Karlsson, Andersen.

I'd be more comfortable going into your draft with Freddy than Blake. I'm losing a bit of faith in the Jets as a whole and Wheeler is no spring chicken. (that said, Dobber pegs wheeler at 88 points this year, so I could be completely out to lunch...)

Considering saves is one of your stats for goalies, I like Andersen a lot in your league. I would swing that trade and keep Andersen if I were you. Not many high-end goalies in the league right now but Andersen is definitely one of them.

I would definitely rather have Andersen. He's a consistent top-5 goalie option on a great team who is going to pile up wins / saves.

Andersen in your format for sure. It means you won't need to worry about goalie runs.

So maybe I'm not completely out to lunch Anderson is a top-5 goalie and Wheeler is nowhere close to a top-5 forward. And goalies are harder to get.

Im a lone wolf agains the others here I wouldnt keep a goalie and go with the 4 you already have in bold - McJesus, Wheeler, Karlsson and Kucherov.
That thing about the goalie run is not gonna be a problem for you because this year you are picking 5th(right in the middle)

You're not that off base. I used the hockey Geek tool, based on my league cats and Dobber's projections for the coming season, and Wheeler was the 6th ranked skater. Higher than Crosby, Marchand to name a few. Also, I neglected to say he won't be keeping Andersen, however, we always have at least one GM each year that auto drafts due to personal commitments. It screws everything up...especially when they draft another goalie when they don't need them.

Wow, thats exactly what you dont want if you are not keeping a goalie. But you cant project what the others are gonna do. Just concentrate on your team and for me keeping McJesus, Wheeler, Karlsson and Kucherov is the way to go.

I'll reiterate some of the earlier comments.
Take Freddy - as soon as you include saves F.A. becomes a top 5G option, if not top 3.
Adding Barrie, Harpur, Ceci aren't really going to suppress shot rates in a huge way.

I prefer Wheeler as well. Wheeler is an absolute stud in your format. Andersen would be a great addition but I prefer Wheeler to give you an excellent skater core to start the draft.

Finally got back to me. We ended up trading my Wheels/#5th overall pick for his Andersen/#3rd overall pick. While I agree Wheels is great in our format, I needed an ace in net and Andersen gets a ton of starts and sees a lot of rubber. Now I won't have to fish early for a goalie and go all in on offense in the early stages of the draft. There will be some tasty forwards to choose from, especially at #3. Thanks for the pros and cons.
