Hey, that trade won the pool for you that year by exactly the same amount of points you got in that trade. And Grioux helped me win the pool the following year. So it was (literally) a win-win!

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

Uncle Larry at the NY Post was right

Shat wanted to come to NY, he and his wife have a new born too.

He came into NY with unrealistic expectations, then got hurt.

Too bad it didn't work out for him.

Best of luck to Kevin wherever he ends up. It would be interesting if he signed with Los Diablos wouldn't it ?
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

If the Flyers hadn't already loaded up on older RHD, I'd think they'd be interested.

Islanders an option? I hope not personally, but would allow him to stick around the area and they aren't exactly loaded.
Oilers would be the fantasy-ideal spot methinks.

I don't see him going to Edmonton. He played for Hitch, so the Oilers have a great insider on him as a player and I am not sure Hitch would recommend him in Edmonton. Who knows. Unless he's coming in under $2M per, I don't think the Oilers are an option simply due to cap restrictions. Even then, I am skeptical he's an option for the Oilers. They still need to find a viable 3C and re-sign Puljujarvi so that $2M for Shattenkirk is probably going there to some extent.

That was one of the first ideas that popped not my head. I imagine he wants to stay close to NY (his first child was born less than a month ago) and if I were him I'd want to stick it to the Rags. What better way than helping the Devils out-turnaround the Rangers.?

Unbelievable how one has fallen and was has shot back to major relevance.

I gotta think Shattenkirk will still land somewhere, albeit at a significantly lower salary.
Probably also around the time Giroux was stinking up a 56pt season

Holik, Redden, Drury, Girardi, Richards, now Shattenkirk ... on the hook for 300k of Spooner's buy out (retained salary)

    Steve Paulis writes this: https://bluelinestation.com/2019/06/...re-blueshirts/

I mean, the title says 'buyouts are rare for the blueshirts'
Has anyone used buyouts more than the NYR since the salary cap era?

Personally, I think the best part is they bought Girardi out so they could sign Shattenkirk.

I hope he lands somewhere where he gets PP time. Not many teams have a D opening on the #1 PP though.

    That's why I don't envision him having a big bounce-back year

Yeah, I feel like Edmonton is a team that could really use him if he feels so inclined to sign there on a cheap deal. I don't really see a ton of "obvious" fits for him, but that doesn't mean he still can't be a useful player for a lot of teams.

With those sweet buyout stacks and his family (and infant) in NYC, I'd expect him to take $2-3M for a couple years to be in NJ, NYI, PHI, PIT.
Any of those but perhaps NJ would be compelling.

With all the rumours of Pitt sniffing on Gardiner... a much cheaper Shattenkirk might become a prime target. Be a 'great' partner for Johnson.
