I think they're better than that short-term but they're definitely trending in that direction. They're going to be worse every year and it'll stay that way for a while.

I think the Wild are going to be severely under-rated this season. Sure they would be a lot better if they had Granlund instead of Fiala and Niederreiter instead of Rask but they still have a solid lineup and arguably the best top 4 d in the West.

Have to disagree. They have a decent top 4 but San Jose’s is better, Calgary’s is better, Nashville’s is better. Dallas and Colorado are close as well. Arguably top 4 2nd tier D maybe...

Was Fenton in Nashville when Leipold owned them? He gave him a chance and it was a disaster. Better cut ties quick. Everyone makes mistakes. Smart people learn from them quickly.

Karpizov ain’t coming to this tire fire is he?

I feel like the Wild have at least a couple more middling seasons in which they compete for a playoff spot and only end up with a mid round draft pick before bottoming out completely and actually embracing a real rebuild.

I think Hextall would be great if they actually want to rebuild. I thought he was great with Philadelphia.

I concur. I wish he was still with the Flyers instead of the current failed retread GM Fletcher.

I think Kaprizov still comes over, but whomever takes the GM position needs to make it a priority to ensure he's still a huge part of their future. I believe Fenton made an effort to communicate that to him, but it never hurts to remind Kaprizov just how valuable the organization thinks he is.

I’m certainly glad I traded Kaprizov last summer for Kotkaniemi + 1st rounder (became 9th oa).

I'd say there's a solid chance Kotkaniemi alone outperforms Kaprizov. Odds would still favor Kap at their respective peaks but it's not a slam dunk.

My trade partner and I are the top two teams in the dynasty, so I can understand why he was taking a swing on the pure upside and winger eligibility for Kaprizov, but I’m very happy with the deal.

I have no concerns on Kaprizov coming over. More confident in that than I was this time last year in Gusev making the leap, and I was pretty confident of that.
That said It's a solid deal. Kotkan is one of those under the radar offensive players.
I think he'll surprise in the next couple years as to what his ceiling is (kudos to Jouko-Pouko for pumping his tires way before he was on anyone's radar). I
If you count FO's - then it's going to be even better for you.
There are sick players floating at the #9 slot in drafts this year. Beauty add.

I'm actually glad nobody in my pool wants him. He's on my main roster so it makes it harder to deal him, but that's fine with me. He's sat there for 2 years so 1 more won't hurt. Arguably my best player even without playing one NHL game haha!
