I have one pool... where I think maybe one other GM even knows who he is. Here's I've been sitting on him going on 3 years.

Micheal Russo's scathing article on Paul Fenton's 14 months as Wild GM is out on The Athletic for those with a subscription.

    https://theathletic.com/1112113/2019...with-the-wild/

In a nutshell, it says that Fenton had no clue what he was doing right from day 1 and did not get any better as time passed.

I remember concerns from sports writers and Dobber members about whether he could do the job when it was announced he was hired. Competence issues were always huge ??? marks with him. Right from the get go.

What an article! It is shocking how incompetent he was. How was he ever hired in the first place. It doesn’t sound like there was a single positive move in his tenure. Sounds like a mini-Trump.

I felt uncomfortable reading that article; it was just so brutal. Must be very awkward for his son still working there...

Crazy article by Russo. Had a lot of fun reading that. Didn't seem like Fenton created a great workplace atmosphere and all the little things started to compound into a bigger problem. Can't see how Chiarelli would be better though...

Read this one..ya from the atricle it was pretty clear there was issues with his staff and the way PF conducted things. The trades were just the sideshow.

I used one of my "free" articles on The Athletic to read that Russo piece, and holy cow ... obviously from the outside, we can look at a trade like Niederreiter for Rask and realize that the guy has no clue what he's doing. But all the stuff going on within the organization, it just sounds like such an uncomfortable, toxic situation for everyone involved. Working under this guy seemed like a complete nightmare all around.

Just gotta hope they don't hire Chiarelli. I think Hextall would be a good choice.

The bigger question is how did he stay with the Predators for 20+ seasons in a pretty big role.

I think..in my own opinion...that the success he saw in NSH went to his head and figured he could do no wrong in MIN. Just run it the way i want it because i ran NSH so good they wanted me here..

Setting culture as a GM and being part of a culture as AGM are significantly different. Some people just aren’t leaders and cant be leaders. Can be an amazing scout and a terrible GM.

Pretty clear Fenton was hired because he looks identical to Leipold. Legit twinsies.
