Trade Away: 2020 2nd (13-24th overall range likely 13-17) & Alex Nylander (Minors $0 salary)

Receive: Labanc ($1.5mil) & Doughty ($7.5mil)

Am I getting impatient with my rebuild if I accept this?

Labanc hype has really been growing and could be the cheapest I could get a 55-65pt breakout player. Doughty is pretty steep $$$ for our league and would be a tough contract to trade during the season, most likely would cut and take the penalty. Is Labanc worth the loss of assets? Thanks all.

I guess it depends how the contracts work in your league, and how long you can have Labanc on that $1.5 million. Even if you're just cutting Doughty, if Labanc could potentially get you a better return mid-season than Nylander + 2nd round pick then you do the deal. There's also the possibility that Doughty rebounds significantly, and he nets you an asset as well.

At this point you're just building value. That's really the ticket with a rebuild, not so much targeting specific players but trying to add value wherever possible. You know your league best, so if you think Labanc could be a real valuable piece, then I'm not too heartbroken about losing Nylander. He hasn't really shown much to this point.

Okay, I think I would do this deal. You're getting a cost-controlled 60-point winger who is going to be established in the Sharks top-six. At the very least, he's a movable asset that a lot of competing teams should be interested in due to his contract. I'm thinking at the deadline you can easily turn him into more than Alex Nylander + 2nd rounder.

Yeah the more I look at it, its a win/win. Either I get a 60pt player taking up very little cap space for 3 years or I can flip Labanc to a contender for a Lottery pick in 2020 Prospects draft. Fingers crossed, Doughty is the cherry on top that I can use to reacquire some assets.
