Seems like a fair trade but hard to evaluate without knowing how many starters at each position.

Laine could end up signing for almost as much as Aho+Klingberg (say, 10ish?) and produce far less than Aho.

Depends on where you see Laine landing on his contract. If you think that he takes a bridge in the 7 M range, then that is the clear winner. If he lands closer to 10 M, then it's much closer. If you disagree with my point estimates (am I too low on Kakko?), that might change things a bit, too.

If it were me, I would want Aho and Klingberg. You know their contacts and what you're going to get out of both of them (three years in, and no one yet really knows what to expect from Laine). Plus, I give additional value to point producing defensemen like Klingberg.

Im taking Aho and Klingberg here. I don't think Kakko is going to give you 60 points right away. I see him more in the 45-53 point range. And the math is showing that Laine+Kakko would be the clear winner but thats without knowing everything. Just for example - if not Klingberg, who would your best defenceman be and how many points you are gonna get from defence?
