    Good for him lol

Very similar to how they locked up Calle Jarnkrok for long and cheap.

The AAV makes this alright but... that's a long time to have any player tied up, let alone a bottom-six guy. Term is usually what gets teams in trouble.

Seems odd/rare to lock up a 3rd liner - even one as valuable as Sissons is - to a contract of this length

Good for Sissons getting that term!

I like it for both sides. I was expecting a 4x4 kind of deal, so it's not too surprising to see the term lengthened and the amount brought down. Keeps things more open for Josi next year.

Isn't Sissons one of the better bottom 6 guys around the league? I know the term is pretty crazy but the AAV is NICE so honestly I think this is a pretty quality value signing by Poile. Getting a solid bottom 6 guy who can play 15-16 minutes a night effectively for sub-$3m is incredible. Just depends on how much you believe in the man.

Too long for my liking. Tough to predict what Sissons will be in 7 years. AAV is great though so I understand the move for Poile and the Preds.

That's an unbelievable deal for the Predators. He's their 5th or 6th most important forward and is only 25 years old.

To me it’s weird for the player. Basically he agrees that he will never be better than he is now. Doesn’t think he has a chance of being a better player. I get financial security. But just seems weird to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You certainly don't see deals for this many years with an AAV under $3M. But hey - if he gets them even a point per every other game this deal looks great. And in terms of why the player would agree to this, probably he wants to make a certain amount of money and not have to worry about injuries or other factors. When all is said and done between taxes and agents he'll pocket probably $8M of this, which will be a nice chunk of change to live off.

Very interesting contract. Sissons is a very effective defensive forward, and he's easily one of the more important 3C around the league. He sort of reminds me of Faksa in the sense that while those guys were technically bottom-six players, their TOI was a lot higher than most guys in that same position. He's used heavily in the defensive zone, and has great impacts in defensive xG and shot suppression. He's also a good faceoff guy.

I think a lot of folks are going to crap on this contract because of the term, but I'm quite confident it's going to represent great value to the team for at least the next 3-4 seasons unless Sissons randomly falls off a cliff. Worst case scenario, you've got 2-3 seasons of a a mediocre contract at < $3 million. And the cap is going to go up with Seattle in the league and new TV deals in the works. There really isn't much downside here in my eyes.
