    Pittsburgh Penguins✔@penguins

The Penguins have re-signed forward Zach Aston-Reese to a two-year contract. The one-way contract runs through the 2020.21 campaign and carries an average annual value of $1 million.

I thought he'd get a bit more but overall solid deal for the Pens and the 2019-2020 HITS leader? Fingers crossed.

That's a team-friendly deal for what he brings. Nice depth guy.

That is a steal for the Pens. I guess it compensate that Tanev bad contract..

That's a lot of hits between Tanev & ZAR. Pitt must really see some extra upside in Tanev. Maybe they see in him what I see in ZAR - 20-20 (or more) and 200+ hits, SOG.

Pittsburgh definitely saved a few hundred thousand on the cap hit here. I'm pretty sure Evolving-Wild's projection was like 2 years x $1.3 million aav. Now all the Penguins have to do is find someone to take Johnson's contract with Bryan Rust as a sweetener, and then sign Jake Gardiner. Easy.

Easy, right? I'm hearing that your divisional rival New Jersey have eyes on Gardiner as well..Will be interesting to follow where he ends up.

Despite having little faith in Rutherford, I'm just trying to speak the Jake Gardiner thing into existence. With how the rest of the Metro has been improving lately, it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up in Jersey.
