    Default Jamie Benn

    Hey y'all

Where is everyone at with Benn?

Used to be a consensus 1st rounder... obviously not there anymore but nearly got back to PPG last year

I feel like he can be had at a bit of a discount.. hes not that old.

Certainly he's money in bangers and mash leagues

Projections for this season? People buying? Or avoiding?

    Cheers

i still hold him in couple of my leagues and i think he can rebound.

with Pavelski joining Dallas, i think he can get to 80 pts again with all the PIM, hits, blks multicat beast.

I would buy low on him

I traded Duchene to acquire him.

I think he bounces back into the 70-80 point range.

Benn is the man to target on draft days. Like others already mentioned can only benefit from the Pavelski signing and hes still a stud in multi-cat leagues. Also getting FOs from the wing is golden(if you count that). Because of his below his standards season last year, he's going to be a great value option this upcoming season.

I'd be buying in any non-salary banger leagues. I'm not expecting him to go back to being a ppg player, but even with a slight rebound to something around 65 points, he's one of the best due to his category coverage. Now is probably the best time to buy him when current owners may have soured.

Yeah, he's definitely a "buy" right now. There is some concern with age-related decline given his style of play, but I don't think that's exactly the explanation for his down season. He had the lowest IPP% of his career, while most of his other underlying metrics were in line with career averages. He spent about 40% of his even strength shifts with Seguin and Radulov; however, with the addition of Pavelski and development of Hintz, there should be more reliably consistent linemates regardless of pairings.

He only had 11 PPP, and I certainly don't expect him to end up there again. I'd guess 20+ is the likely outcome which would bring him back into the 65-point range. If he can bring those shot rates back up a little bit into the 200+ range that should help account for a few more goals, as well. 30 goals, 40 assists, plus player with 50 PIM, 200 shots, 125 hits, 200 faceoff wins seems like a reasonable projection.

I acquired Benn & Duncan Keith in a multi-cat dynasty with a salary cap, but the cap isn't onerous at all. It cost me 1.09 (Cole Caulfield) and 3.08 (Phillip Broberg). Keith was the #21 Defenseman last year, and Benn was the #41 forward. Benn in the years prior was rated 2nd, 1st, 2nd, and 9th among forwards.

That's just maybe one particular case or that just tell you from now on to be careful making deals involving power forwards? We all know that power forwards are aging early compared to the other position. Don't think thats the case with Benn though. Just in general I think it's a risk acquiring a power forward and giving up the future.

Dobber's guide has him predicted at 62 Points.. i don't think that is a bounce back/sleeper if we are pegging him for 62 pts.

any of you would consider keeping Benn in these 2 leagues that counts HITS BLKS PIM FOW PPP G A

    Keep 5 of:
Pettersson, Zibanejad, Weber, Nurse, Boeser, OEL, Trochek, Benn, Debrincat

    Keep 6 of:

At a quick glance before my morning coffee, bolded is who I would keep.

I'm holding Benn with those cats for sure.

Even if he only hits 62 points he is till going to give you something in all those other categories which makes him more valuable IMO

Dont cheat, Mr. Evans! Dont ever again make a keeper decission before your coffe The first one is a keep 5 but you bolded 6 guys!

Just for the record - I don't agree that Benn will be a 62 point player this upcoming season. I would say around 68-74.

    Fixed.
