    NY #Rangers sign Jacob Trouba
7 years at $8,000,000 AAV ($56,000,000 Total Value)
Most common comparables are Pietrangelo, Ekblad, Leddy, Subban, although none are great matches. It's probably fine and also probably high.

When looking at the comparables it seems plenty fair. I'm just not sure he has what it takes to be "the guy" on a team. I guess we'll find out now.

TBF, Pietrangelo was the best comparable and it was like 73%. There really aren't any comparables to this deal.

My model shows market value on him as $8.3M, so it seems to fit in the ballpark.

Probably a little expensive, but ultimately a fair deal for both sides. It's generally okay to overpay your good players a little bit as long as you aren't dragged down by bad depth contracts.

it's not a question of his ability as he has it but rather can a 25 year old multi millionaire come to the nightlife mecca that is NYC after being in Manitoba for years and keep his priorities straight.

Although if you just look at cap percentage, it was 10% for Piet, and 9.8% for Trouba. Pretty spot on.

Front loaded deal, heavy on signing bonuses for first three years. NMC except for this year, and the last two years (15 no trade list, 12 team no trade list).

Still haven't figured out how I feel about this deal...

Man, did things line up for this guy. Injuries to everyone around him last season, so he got plenty of ice and PP opportunity, and he managed to stay fully healthy for the first time in a few years. He got exactly what he wanted, as he's finally the man in a big city. Should be a good contract for both sides.
