That's my understanding as well. Lucic's NMC should be in full effect.

Just following up on @GenePrincipe and @RealKyper — only Lucic/Neal involved with EDM retaining some money and including a conditional draft pick.

The pick is interesting but the money retained is far more interesting.

Yeah. If Edmonton is retaining very little, then that's a huge win for Holland getting rid of that Lucic contract.

Apparently deal might not be finalized today and still some wrangling over the NMC. Rumours are the salary retention is 600k.

3rd round pick kicks in if Neal gets 10 or more goals than Lucic. (So, 12 goals or so).

$750k retained + 2020 third round pick to swap Lucic and Neal? Love this for Edmonton getting out from under Lucic.

I am looking at the Soilers roster and its difficult to see Neal not being RW1. Chiasson, Kassian, Gagner being the other options. The Yakupov/Poolparty failures have left a gaping hole.

No way he's anything worse than RW2, and that's if they want to try to spread out the offense a little bit. I think he's pretty easily their best RW option at the moment. That's not great.

    Draisaitl-McDavid-Kassian
    Chiasson-RNH-Neal

Might be the best they can do.

    More
Two conditions have to be met for Oilers to send 3rd round pick to Calgary - James Neal has to record at least 21 goals and Lucic scores at least 10 fewer goals than Neal.

So weird. I get it, but have we seen this kind of condition before?
