Jordan Staal is easily the best option with your settings. I'd also have some interest in Thornton on a really cheap deal. If you go with Staal, maybe you can manage to fit Thornton too depending on how cheap his deal ends up.

Staal is your best option, but also puts you right against the cap. When you say you possibly have room for two players, do you mean your roster spaces aren't capped and you just have to be under the cap regardless of # of skaters?

Correct. Cap is the constraint here.

Agree. If you can go with Stepan + Thornton or Staal + Thornton that would be the best scenario in my opinion.

I'd wait to see what kind of cheap deal Thornton signs with San Jose, as you might be able to fit Staal ($6 million) and Thornton if he comes in $1 million or under -- which is possible given the deal Labanc signed.
