Advice on first pick

Hey all, for a different league than sig. Cats are G=2, A=2, +/-=1, PIM=.5, PPP=1, SHP=3, HTS=.2, BLK=.5

Who do you like, Kakko or Hughes?

It would be helpful to see the rest of your roster, know the league type, scoring, etc. to make a more informed decision. But my position with Hughes/Kakko is that if you play in leagues that have positional difference between canters and wingers, have an emphasis on goals / shots, or if you're competing for a championship and need more immediate production, then I would prefer Kakko. Elite wingers are incredibly hard to acquire in a most multi-cat leagues with C, LW, RW, so he gets a boost from certain league types.

Unless a league is particularly goal-oriented, and yours isn't, I say Hughes all the way. He will very likely immediately be the 2nd-best skater in the league this fall and his ability process the game at that top-speed bodes very well for a glorious career.

I prefer Hughes. You can always search these guys and I am sure you will find a few threads asking advice on this. You can also check out the thread that's going that shows other leagues and where how their draft went as far as results:

I agree with MounD...i have first OA and I'll be picking Kakko as our set up is heavier on goals and we have C/LW/RW positions

I've also bin told I should trade down to second if I'm picking Kakko however I'd be worried other GM would chose the player i'd want.
