Who to draft?

Heinola. Should be a solid top 4. Plus in three years when he's pushing for an NHL position, Big Buff will be gone and that's a prime opportunity for him to step up into a pp2 role if he works out. Also, with you using AAV, he already signed for 1.1M after bonuses which is great value.

My man pulled off "the Michigan" as a draft-eligible rookie in the SHL ... pretty impressive stuff.

Well....it was between Hoglander and Heinola. I went with Heinola. Had to pick before 12am today, so seeing some new posts. Second guessing myself now. My reasoning:

I am weak on D prospects versus F prospects. My minors for dmen(Don't laugh):

Guhle
Belpedio
Zboril
Walman
Alexeyev
Addison

So IMO Heinola becomes my second best prospect behind Alexeyev. I also own Byfuglien. My theory/thinking is that when Byfuglien really falls off, Heinola may be ready to step in and take a top 4 role and some PP to replace Byfuglien IRL and in my fantasy league. WPG has a depleted pipeline now. I think Niku is about it.

I addressed D need over F need, even though Hoglander might have been the "Better" pick at this point. At pick #36 in the draft, either would have been a value IMO. Opinions welcome, as I am always up for input/criticism to make things better in the future if my thinking is flawed in any way.

Don't sleep on Addison either, he's got some potential and there's not alot standing between him and realizing it. I think you're reasoning is solid though, you're addressing a positional need.

Sidenote: Winnipeg also has Leon Gawanke, he put up some big numbers in the Q last year and he's old enough that he could make a quick transition.

Calen Addison is going to be a really good one. Should be another couple seasons before he's making any kind of impact with Pittsburgh, though. Not too far off, but he's really impressed me. Penguins were lucky to draft him.
