Default Fox still a must own prospect?

Am I crazy for feeling like Fox has more upside than Trouba? I’m from southern Manitoba, and I gotta say I have never been a Trouba fan. Just wondering if you guys think Fox has a good shot at being a top fantasy producer in a points only league.

I would say he's still a good own long term, but the short term picture just got a little cloudier. Trouba wanted to be the top pair guy and I'm pretty sure NY will give him the chance to be that. You can make a more informed decision once they sign him to a contract, if it's for dollars and term than your wait is probably extended slightly.

In the ocean of defenseman prospects, Fox is near the top of the list. Trouba's existence does not change that. Some people were questioning Makar's viability as a prospect because Barrie was already there. And then poof. The post's reference to upside signals a long-term approach, so depending on your league size, Fox is likely someone who should be owned. Like most prospect defensemen, it'll take a little time for the potential to bloom. And maybe it'll end up blooming on another team.

After guys like Hughes, Makar, Bouchard, and Brannstrom there aren't many D prospects I can think of that I would prefer over Adam Fox. The guy had 48 points in only 33 NCAA games last season, he's got serious upside and at 21 years old he's not far from showing it. Of course it's true that he would get more opportunities if Trouba weren't in the picture, but that doesn't really worry me about his future offensive production.

I would have to send a prospect as part of it since we’re only allowed 5.

You happen to own two of the defensemen I would value ahead of Fox, as Brannstrom is a clear keep and Dobson appears to be in line for big minutes with the Islanders' not exactly stacked back end. And I don't think I would swap any of those forwards for Fox, maybe Wahlstrom.

I'm thinking Fox may have slightly higher value, and once he gets in the lineup the hype could start to build. If you're gonna swap anybody from this list, it would be Wahlstrom for me.

I don't want to steal someone else's post, but since it's relevant, how do you figure Aho fits into the Isles situation on the backend?

Adam Fox is in the next on this list after guys like Makar, Dobson, Brannstrom, Hughes, Smith etc. He is still a fantastic dman prospect and one you would be smart to go after. I rank him just below Ty Smith as a prospect but he is ready to contribute now.

I honestly have no idea, my man. It feels like Leddy and Boychuck continue to eat up minutes (and spots) from guys like Toews and Pulock on the main roster, and potentially guys like Aho from the AHL. He's 23 years old, so if he's going to be ready to produce in the NHL the time is definitely now. The problem is they're locked into Leddy, Boychuck, Hickey, and Mayfield for the next 3-4 seasons with Pulock needing a new contract and Toews also in the mix. Add to that a blue chip prospect like Dobson potentially turning pro, which would have to be with the Islanders.

I guess Aho is currently behind Leddy, Hickey, Pelech, and Toews for minutes on the LH side.
