Wow, this appears to be a big win for Buffalo but the last thing they needed was more D LOL! Still, I can appreciate why they did the trade. Chicago, not so much. Nylander has yet to prove anything.

I really hope this means he can land somewhere with sheltered minutes and a PP1 gig ... then again, maybe Buffalo could just shelter him now and keep him on the top unit with Dahlin, Eichel, Skinner, and Reinhart?

I'm curious what this does for Jokiharju's value, probably not great seeing as he's not even in the conversation for PP minutes at this point.

How were other teams not in on Jokiharju if that was the case and how did so many teams get duped by Buffalo?? What the hell did Chicago see in Nylander that they couldnt have seen in other prospects????

I just read on twitter one tweet that sums it up for me nicely. If you knew you were going to trade Jokiharju, why didnt they draft Byram??

Yeah it screams reactive trade. There's a surplus of D and this is the path of least resistance to move one out for forward help.

Byram had more goals than Dach, both played in the WHL. I think Bowman is just shooting from the hip here.

Gotta think, unless there's some unknown issue with Joki - that he's the type of kid Tor, Van, Edm, Wpg (among others) would have been in on and had better prospects to fling back to Chi.

Did they really get Fwd help though. I mean, maybe a change of scenery will help Nylander, who knows. It worked well for DStrome so maybe they are hoping for a similar thing to happen with Nylander, but man, I dont see it.
