I think I like Spurgeon, even with a healthy Dumba around.

Wow. Quite literally, flip a coin. They feel like the exact same player, in the exact same situation. 3rd on the pecking order on each team.

    Dumba
    Suter
    Spurgeon

    Dahlin
    Ristolainen
    Montour

I will say this, though, that Buffalo paid a heavy price to get Montour. A decent young D on a great contract. I can't imagine they spent the assets they did to not use Montour at all. So either they change Ristolainen's usage (since they're not trading him) or they change their tune (and trade him). I think they want stiff internal competition and that's why they have all three of them around. Spurgeon has the track record. Montour might have a better opportunity. Certainly the better offense (one would think).

If I'm a gambler, Montour and given the situation it sounds like you can gamble here. They're not make or break players.

    Buffalo also has Miller.

Spurgeon is more proven and in a better situation to my eye.

Spurgeon is very underrated. Every year he manages to produce respectable numbers. No reason to believe he won't do that again next year.

I put Miller below those 3.

    I’d still flip a coin .
