Crazy to Trade Vasilevskiy??

For league in sig. I have to drop 8 before season begins. After some back and forth the latest offer I received is:

My: Vasilevskiy, Pacioretty, Edler (I would be dropping him anyways)

for

His: Scheifle, Huberdeau, Subban, Allen

I just started a "retooling" after going all-in and finishing 2nd two years in a row. Moved most of my vets for young guns and picks and am looking to be competitive within next 2 years. I have to drop 8 guys before season begins and Edler would be one of them. The other GM has Stone so wants Patches. I have no problem moving him. I have Binnington so Allen would be good to add to have the tandem and he's only 28 and could move to another team as a starter next year as they've already announced he's staying in STL this season. I have Merzlikins who should be the starter in CLB either this year or next and Saros should be the guy in NSH as early as next season. Adding Scheifle, Huberdeau and Subban would be huge upgrades for me as besides McDavid, Scheifle would be my next best C by a wide margin, a position I am rather thin at right now, Huberdeau would easily be my top LW and same could be said for Subban as my top dman.

As much as it would be painful to let go of Vasi, I feel like my team would be stronger with the players I would be acquiring. Would I be crazy to make this deal??

You would be crazy to trade the best young tender in the league. You don't trade goalies like this--you build around them. Vas is 24, not 34.

McDavid, Pastrnak, Makar and Vasilevskiy should be 1,000% untouchable on your team. Period.

If you want to sell high on a player, trade Binnington.

Not untouchable for me. Svech would be in the next tier with Ehlers--taking an overpayment to trade them--but not completely off-the-table. I don't trust the Canes long-term.

Vasilevskiy is the best combination of young age, elite skill, and surrounding team you can possibly get in fantasy. There's nobody else in goal that can check all three of those boxes. He should be up there in the McDavid/Kucherov tier of untouchable players.

In my setup he outscored my best forward (MacKinnon) despite missing five weeks of the season. I can't imagine trading him for anything. Maybe if McDavid was involved somehow.

I think I'm in agreement here that Vasilevskiy is just too good to trade at this point. He's young, elite, and in the best possible situation you could want for a goaltender. I would absolutely be shopping Binnington around if you want to make a splash.

Wait to see how much he gets paid. And then realize you may need to keep him at that price - there will be goalies I'd be willing to trade him for as part of a package where you may downgrade a bit in net, and win elsewhere - I'm sure of that. But right now he's cheap, young, and elite.

I’m really surprised by the responses in this thread. I make this trade easily. You have Binnington and if he doesn’t work out you can trade for another goalie. I wouldn’t be passing up the opportunity to add Scheifele, Huberdeau and Subban for a goalie and an underwhelming Paciorretty.

I think the problem is that Vas isn't just "a goalie"

To put it into context for you, the league is 3 Fs shallower than our PQMC, but with a scoring category lineup of 10 skater cats and 8(!) goalie cats, I think it's a lot easier to find a replacement centre for Scheifele than a replacement goalie for Vas. Also the difference between an 80 point Hubs and a 65 point Patches (who has better peripherals), isn't all that much.
BLKs also isn't a category, so you don't need the top Dmen. Targeting guys like Makar, Girard, Theodore etc is exactly the kind of value Dcore to try and assemble. Not that Subban wouldn't help, but he's not making up the difference for the massive downgrade in net from Vas to Allen.
