Exactly. Plus, what are they, 1 million under the floor? If you want a Melynk move, trade for David Clarkson. 5 million cap hit and most of it is likely covered by insurance.

Edm uses the 6m to sign Gusev for 2yrs.

That would have to be a hefty add-on for Van to take Luc. Bigger than what Van gives to Ott. EDM has a lot more to gain from cutting wasted salary (ie: putting as much of McDavid's prime towards legitimate cup runs as possible). Ideally, Benning would recognize that... Although he did just give up a 1st for Miller.
