Default Kyrou vs 11th pick in prospect draft (REP)

Just made this trade in the league in my signature. I received Kyrou but am curious to know if you'd have pulled the trigger in my shoes or kept the 11th pick?

    TIA!

That's a tough one. Based on other league's drafts and the real draft, let's say 11 gets you someone like Podkolzin, Newhook, Krebs, or Boldy.

Is Kyrou better than them? He certainly is right now, and is more proven at the professional level (near PPG in your first year in the A is really good, on a not so amazing team to boot).

So then I'd look at opportunity, and I just can't see where Kyrou's is on the Blues. 8 of their top 9 are on contract for next season. The one who isn't is Maroon, who I can't see them not re-signing. He's the local boy who scored a big OT goal in the playoffs.

Kyrou isn't suited to a 4th line role. Plus they're probably bringing back Barbashev, Sundqvist, Sanford, Blais, and maybe Fabbri.

Next year only Schenn comes off the books, and you imagine they'd want him back. So that means he's not playing top 6 minutes until 21-22 at the earliest, barring injury or trades.

What I'm getting is that you basically traded the 11th pick for a quicker return in Kyrou and I don't see that return being quicker than the 11th pick anyway. Sort of a bummer because Kyrou is a very talented player. And with all this said, it's not a bad trade by any means. Maybe just a neutral one.

We wont truly know the winner/loser of this deal for a few years but I dont think it's a bad trade. I like Kyrou just as much as I like some of the names you'd expect to get around that time in the draft.

I wouldnt say you won this trade or lost it for that matter, as it stands today.

    Probably about fair value.

It really comes down to how long you could keep Kyrou & whether you had room for him to play if you could keep him.
If you couldn't - it's a savvy move swapping for a high value pick.

I prefer Kyrou over any guy you could get with the 11th pick in this year's draft.

Kyrou seems like he could produce on par with forwards available around 11, and he's much closer to the NHL. I'd pick Kyrou.

I would side with the guy further in his development.
