I don't think the Flyers had a legit chance to get him cheap, quite honestly. If I'm Sanheim's camp, I'm looking for about 6 to add term to the deal. I don't think the Flyers are in the position right now to offer Sanheim 6x6--they still need to lock-up Provorov and Konecny.

I'm thinking they will try to get Povorov and Konecny on longer term deals, then re-sign Sanheim in 2 years when Niskanen and Braun are off the books and the expansion draft is passed.

I agree. It would’ve been nice to sign him long term like Josi etc but I’m sure him and his agency looked at those type of deals and figured he should just prove himself over 2 years and then cash in to avoid leaving too much on the table.

Some long term certainty would’ve been nice but this is still a good alternative.
