What does Subban in NJ do to Severson?

In a Keeper league where top 5 D pts count.

So with Subban traded to NJ, what's the impact for Severson?
Trade bait or worth keeping?

Here are my D:
D - Gostosbehere, Yandle, Trouba, Chabot, Severson, Miller, Green, Goligoski (Top 5 count: PTS , 0.5 PP, 2 SH)

Honestly nothing good. He has shown promise but not lived up to it. I would think he will lose PP time potentially share 2nd unit with butcher or get bumped totally off if they try to give butcher and smith the pp times.

I read that with them getting Subban they might even use one of Vatanen or Severson as trade bait. While I think that is a bad move since the rest of the defense sucks it could happen.

I don't think he comes close to 40 points with Subban there. Probably below 20 minutes per game and PP2. I think he falls in the 20-30 point range he showed in 2016 and 2018, when his overall utilization was more limited.

I have more faith in Will Butcher than Severson moving forward.

I agree, Subban is officially the man in NJ. He should gobble up all the PP time he can handle. I don't see Severson being a serious offensive option with Subban on board, barring injury. Plus Butcher is there too.

I know the NHL doesn't usually operate this way but the Devils should sell high on Severson.

Severson is trade bait at best for you while he's in NJ.

I mean this is terrible news for severson and butcher fantasy wise. Barring injury they both become 2nd pp time players at best and little to no pp time at worst.

If you can get fair value for his production from last season, take it. I don't think he gets close to 40 points again next season.

Trying to project their D pairings, and I'm having trouble putting their top-four together without having someone like Vatanen playing their off-side. Their best D are Subban, Vatanen, Butcher, and Severson -- but only 1 of these is a LHD, that's Butcher. I also don't see a scenario where Andy Greene isn't in the top-four. So maybe Greene/Subban, Butcher/Vatanen, with Severson playing third-pair with Mueller or something?

Does anyone who watched this team a lot last year have any sense what they're going to do with the D pairs?
