Not high. Presumably, he's still behind Josi, Ellis and Ekholm in the pecking order, and NAS may move into the 21st century with only one defenseman on their PP to get that thing producing a bit. That could/should leave Fabbro shutout of the most valuable minutes. The best a Dman can do without PP time is 30 points, and he probably isn't maxing out at this stage.

He won't score much at all but he's making the team. Let's start with that. I say 3 years before we see an impact you want on your roster.

I have Fabbro, Valimaki and Fox in my minors. Setup is multi cat but heavy on goals and assists. I had Fabbro third on the list. Does the trade of Subban change that? Please rank them.

I'd still have Valimaki ahead of Fabbro. Fox is harder to gauge, especially with Trouba there now.

I do agree that expectations should still be held in check with Fabbro, as they bring him along. This will open the door for him to get regular NHL minutes, but he will probably still be in the 5/6 hole for regular minutes and probably PP2 time. I'm not expecting much more than something in the 25-30 pt range next year.

I agree he's still behind Valimaki, but I would put him above Fox at the moment.
As for next season, I don't think he hits 25. I see about 20 on the year. 13-15 of that in the second half.

Thanks for the input. I think you have answered short term. What about as long term keepers?

Fox is going to be a beast--people better get their mitts on him cheap before December.

For some reason I like Fabbro to have the best chance of reaching his potential of those three, but it’s Ryan Suter potential while Fox has Brian Leetch-like potential. Valimaki to me is like a Teppo Numminen Brian Rafalaki. Complementary top pairing D.
