    Default [signed] Edler - 2 years 6m

    David Pagnotta‏ @TheFourthPeriod

Hearing the Canucks are closing in on a 3-year extension with Alex Edler. Deal includes a modified NMC.

The MOD-NMC will allow Van to leave him exposed to Seattle - I don't mind the 3rd year as long as that's a possibility. Salary's a bit better than expected too.

Wow 24 hours ago the word was he's moving on from Vancouver and they would be losing him for nothing. Sure if a lot of garbage info put out there to play with fans' emotions. Fake news era...

BTW solid contract for Vancouver. I have no issue with this.

I feel like Edler could have gotten more $. Good deal for Vancouver if they can seal it.

Fair deal for the nucks and MAYBE a little payback from Edler as he hasn't allowed Vancouver to trade him at the trade deadline - always stating he wanted to stay in Vancouver.

Yeah this feels like a really solid deal. Good term, good AAV. Lol Kevin Hayes.

Actually... it's apparently not finalized yet... word came out last night there's talks of a FOURTH YEAR.
That's the Benning we were expecting to see if that happens

Updated the title of the thread as the rumours of yesterday are false

Benning actually signed for a great contract

    2yrs 6m per.

    that's a beauty.

I'll accept that. 3 years worried me a bit.

Agreed it's a nice contract. AAV is far less a concern than term. Canucks got this one right.

Love this one for Vancouver. Edler still got good value and the term is great.

I was anticipating something around 5x$5M or possibly more. Not bad at all.

3 years was fine by me. 2 years is even better. Definitely worth the extra .5 -1m to keep it short-term. Could be a nice trade chip later on.

He'll become Vancouver's Joe Thornton. He'll retire a Canuck. When he's 36 - end of this 2yr deal. he'll move to year by year NMC deals.
