#NHLDucks are in the process of finalizing paperwork to buy out Corey Perry this morning. Perry is not expected to be placed on waivers, by virtue of his no-move clause. Big name for the #FreeAgentFrenzy list. #TSN
Corey Perry cap league fantasy managers everywhere, be like:
Can prolly go to a team and chip in 14-16minutes/game, ~170shots over ~70games. 10%, 17G. Valuable depending on the price, but His 25+goals I think are gone unless he completely gels with someone.
Maybe he's the next Eric Staal?

Interesting... I could see the Jets all over trying to sign him as a depth forward. He plays a game that fits the Winnipeg game.
It really is a dog-eat-dog world in the NHL.

Any chance his next one-year deal is full of performance bonuses and makes his AAV undesirable?

I haven't watched Perry play in awhile. Is he too slow for any role?
Seems like he would make a decent 3rd line winger on a team with a strong C3.

I'd be genuinely surprised if makes a big impact anywhere. He just seems.....done, for lack of a better word. Or who knows - maybe he pulls a John Leclair and finds a way to chip in with 50-55 points somewhere. If I had to wager though, I'd bank on disappointment rather than production.

Per TSN:
Perry, 34, is in the unique position to bet on himself. With the salary cap not rising as sharply as expected, he can opt to sign a one-year performance bonus-laden contract with a small salary cap hit that will be beneficial for teams – and mutually beneficial if he performs.
Those type of deals are typically reserved for players aged 35 and over in the NHL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement. But Perry can sign one because he missed more than 100 days of the league’s 185-day season last year rehabbing a tough knee injury.
I would love to see the Bruins sign him to a bonus laden deal. I think he's hungry for another Cup and if he's back to full health, he could fit in pretty nicely with Krejci & Debrusk.
Without me, it's only "aweso".
