I would think that's due to concerns about Crawford's long term health - which could translate to less of a time share than he had with Griess... therefore boosting his value

I definitely think Lehner is their guy now. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he signed a big extension during the season.

It's funny. Little did I know when I asked this question. I already owned Lehner.

I am excited for his future in Chicago. He will lose the Mitch Korn voodoo but its a great landing spot with a bright future.

Lehner losing a better goalie coach and system. Plus, he is going to a worse(although revamped, yet unproven) defensive unit. I wouldn't expect the same numbers. He will digress certainly, but should still be a solid netminder this season and in the future.

Sure, anyone predicting Lehner to have a .930 Sv% is in for a rude awakening; however, I don't think it's crazy to project him in the .920 range. He's a talented player in his prime.

If Crawford is healthy, I predict he'd get the opening night start. The best Lehner could hope for is a 50/50 split to start but I suspect he'll win the #1 spot during the season. I agree that Lehner is the goalie of the future but the Hawks have not forgotten that Crawford won 2 Cups and was a top quarter of the league goalie for several seasons before his concussion issues. Many people mistakenly said that Crawford was being propped up by the Chicago defense when it was the other way around. The Hawks pride themselves in treating their veterans right and rewarding them for the past accomplishments so I see them being very respectful and deferential to Crawford.

I agree his value will likely suffer in the short term. He will not hit .930 again as a Blackhawk. I dont need him to. But he will get more starts, and wins. And if your scoring system rewards volume he should be a great play starting next year. He wont repeat last years totals this season but I am holding him for the happy days ahead.

I’m disappointed that nobody has said Scott Foster yet. Be better.
