Top 3 are easy peezy and have been mentioned already. I can't see how there's much or any debate with the top 3 given the pedigree over the last two seasons. Until someone steps up and usurps one of them (or makes it a top four) we are all just speculating.

After the top 3 (which again are very easy in points only), it gets tricky. There is a group of 10-15 players that are in that tier and id lean towards one in their early to mid twenties on a solid team if I was drafting a new league next season.

I really like both Matthews & Eichel. Those are 4/5 for me, whether they've shown it in stats or not... talent level is there for 100+pts.
That's my 5 too. Leap of faith with Matthews and Eichel, but I think they will be that good. I would still have Sid in there but it's hard to know when the wheels come off and he's in the danger zone age wise.

a career year does not make a player in the top 5 imo. player would need to have proven statistics 2-3 season at least on average..

for instance, i think Barkov had a career year and will not be likely to surpass what he did last year. He is more in the 80-85 points average guy.

Is this points only? If so, Hall's shooting doesn't really matter. In a straight points league, I want Barkov over Hall.

If positions matter, and your league counts additional stats, then perhaps Hall is the better own. Though I'd want to know what stats are used that don't help Barkov more than Hall (besides shooting). Barkov will get you Faceoff Wins, a better plus/minus, etc.

Do you use positions? LW vs Center? If so, LWers are harder to come by, so you probably want Hall here.

If you don't use positions, it'll close but I'd probably go with Barkov.

    - Goals, slight edge to Hall (but injuries are a concern and Barkov won't be far behind Hall even if both play all 82 games)
    - Assists, edge to Barkov
    - Plus/Minus, edge to Barkov
    - PP points, about even
    - SHP, edge to Barkov (though SHP is never a category to put much weight in, given how few SHP are scored even by the best in the league)
    - GWG, edge to Hall maybe, but really hard to predict
    - SOG, edge to Hall

So no distinction between LW and RW, right?

Regardless, with so few players (only 11 on each roster), I'd go with Barkov. Unless this is a huge league with 30 teams or some such thing, it should be relatively easy to find quality wingers in the draft, so I'd go with the best overall player regardless of position, and that is Barkov.

As a suggestion, if you are only in one league, you might want to put your team and league format in your signature. It will make it easier to give you advice in the future. Look at other signatures on the forum to get ideas, but the crucial details are size of league, stats used, positional requirements, type of league (H2H, full keeper, limited keeper, etc.).
