Default Burns vs Seth Jones ++

Full offer is: My Seth Jones + Jokiharju + Entry Draft Picks #9 and #20 for Burns and Pick #12. Obviously this helps me this season, but how much of my future am I giving up? Jones is good for 45+ points a year (with 60+ upside) and Jokiharju is one of the top D prospects in the league.

    12 team H2H dynasty - Start 4C, 4LW, 4RW, 6D, 3Sk, 2G, 12Bench, 20Minors - G, A, STP, ESP, SOG, PIM, FOW, HITS, BLKS, W, GAA, SV%, SV

C: Matthews, Giroux, Kopitar, Backstrom, Hertl, Backlund, Zajac, Little, Carter

LW: Ovechkin, Benn, Couture, Parise, Schwartz, Bennett

RW: Radulov, Granlund, Hinostroza, Smith (NSH)

D: Rielly, Josi, Giodano, Hamilton, S. Jones, McAvoy, Klefbom, Pulock, Ekholm, Hanifin, McDonagh, Andersson (CGY)

    G: Vasilevskiy, Rinne, Markstrom, Lundqvist

If it helps you win the next two titles, then it doesn't matter as much. It's a fair price to be paying I think, though you will be looking back on it in two years knowing you gave up the better future parts. With a loaded team like yours (especially on D) losing Joki doesn't hurt one bit right now. Definitely worth it.

The deal is fair based on the parts involved...but I question a bit why you are exploring improving your best/deepest position.

I'd be looking at packaging Joki and the picks with a forward to get an improved forward.

Trade from a position of strength to improve a position of relative weakness.

Just a thought...if you really want Burns, it is a fair deal, imo.

it's very possible you get the player you wanted at #9 at #12 as well.. so to me.. the picks aren't even a huge consideration - #20 is 2-3 years away - also 90% irrelevant

Think of it this way... piggybacking EB's comments...

Burns is currently a 75+pt Dman on the backside of his career.
If he regressed 20% in two years - he's a 60+pt Dman - still sitting AT or above S. Jones UPSIDE.

If you're in win now mode. I do this deal.

    in 3yrs Jones-Burns are a wash.

You have a real good looking team. Burns could be the piece that puts you over the top. Go for the win while it’s within reach.
