Krebs and Dach at 15/16 is shocking to me.
Last year I jumped the gun and started the draft results thread because my draft in this league starts so early. This year I’ll wait for Jokke to do it but in the mean time I figured I’d post the results of my first draft here for discussion. I traded like a madman and I’m very pleased with the results. In hindsight I might have done a few things different but overall I’m very happy. It’s hard not having the Nhl draft results as a crutch or The Dobber Guide which dropped on the last day with only a handful of picks remaining. Tell me your likes, thoughts, etc. I’m the Philadelphia Blazers. It’s a 16team H2H multicat points format. Dmen are weighted so they are about even with forwards.

Getting Turcotte at 8 was the most shocking to me. I traded up from 11 (20’ 3rd rounder) to select him. Seeing Zegras went at 11 makes me think I could have held my pick. I’m stoked with Turcotte though, he was 3rd on my board. It’s a very knowledgeable league and the majority is euro. There were some questionable picks last year like Mathias Emilio Pettersen which turned out pretty good so far. Anyways it explains Soderstrom going top 10.

Even with D being given added weight, having guys like Soderstrom and Broberg surpass a bunch of better choices seems unfavorable. Your results at 15 and 16 appear be the best choices you could have made there.
Awesome - thanks for posting this. I too am surprised about how late you got Krebs and Dach. I'm also surprised at the number of d-men scooped up so early, with the exception of Byram, although even he is likely barely top ten in my personal list. I suspected that Cozens would go early and expect to see that in most drafts. I also expect Kaliyev and Lavoie to go earlier in fantasy drafts than in the NHL version.
The D is weighted pretty good, especially offensive Dmen. I personally would never take D early as I got guys like Brook, Capo, and Hollowell later. I was surprised at cozens at 3, I figured 6-10 range. I was hoping Caufield would be the dropper but it ended up being Turcotte so I went after him. Krebs and Dach where absolutely value picks and I traded for those giving up my 1sts in 20’ and 21’. I received picks 15 and 16 and two 5th (Trey Fix and Hollowell). As for Broberg I think he’s gonna be picked a lot higher than most are suspecting. Top 10 even.

I'm shaking my head at pretty much every pick made by Minnesota; maybe that goes knows a bunch of things I don't know...
To be honest its probably the latter! It looks bad on paper I agree but it could turn out to be pretty good. Bjornfot and Fagemo should be getting more press. Wedin and Nygard could do something right out of the gate. The reach for Soderstrom.... This league really is a knowledgeable bunch and as I said, mostly European so you see a different kind of bias than American or Canadian. On top of that, a lot of them are hockey journalists or former hockey journalists in their respective countries. He happens to be one of the more prominent ones haha. He held the draft up a couple times because he’s at the finals doing cup coverage. You can probably guess which country he’s from by his draft. Could be a homer could be a home run. For the record I wouldn’t have selected those guys if I was in those spots but I did have all the players on my list. That’s why I love this draft. It’s a good euro primer when my other drafts roll around.

Interesting draft results. The weighted D points certainly changes things a little, but I am surprised by some of the pics as well. Seeing guys like Kaliyev and Lavoie going ahead of guys like Krebs and Dach make me wonder on peoples thoughts but who really knows how any of these kids will turn out.

Looks to me like you were incredibly fortunate, both at 8 (wow) and 15-16. Turcotte is the slam-dunk third most valuable fantasy asset from this draft, so snagging him at 8 is just ludicrous. Lol at the dude who drafted Soderstrom before you ... As for Krebs, even with the achilles injury he's still easily a top-10 talent from this draft. I'm not as high on Dach as most are, but at 16 that's nuts value.
You also did pretty well with the Merzlikins and Chmelevski picks, too. Overall great draft for you mostly because of some weird picks by your league mates. They're going to be regretting leaving such talented players for you at inexplicable positions.
